Charming Lucite owl pin with matching screw back earrings. This is actually a book piece (see page 103 of Plastic Jewelry by Kelley & Schiffer), lightly carved on both the front and reverse with a simple C clasp closure. There is some paint loss on the right eye of the owl pin; other than that, it's in very good condition. The earrings are interesting; though the owl face earrings are a match to the pin in color, shape and expression, the earring backs are stamped, "Sterling," while the pin back is not. It's curious that Sterling silver would be used on what is essentially novelty jewelry. The pin measures 3 1/5 inches in length, 1 3/4 inches at its widest and the earrings are 7/8 x 3/4 inches.

Another vintage Lucite cameo pin, this one oval in shape, lightly reverse carved with a scalloped edge and measuring 2 15/16 inches in length and 2 1/8 inches in width. The pin back is inserted into the Lucite and has a simple C closure. Circa 1940s and in very good vintage condition.

Vintage reverse carved Lucite pin with black cameo. I've seen many of these pins labeled as a "Bakelite cameo pin;" however, since black Bakelite in general does not respond to the 409 test and I know of no celluloid tests which wouldn't potentially damage the piece, we're simply calling it a hard plastic cameo. This one rests on deeply reverse carved Lucite and measures nearly 2 1/2 inches in diameter with the pin back embedded into the Lucite. The purplish reflection on the back picture is the glue which attaches the cameo to the Lucite base and is not dirt or goop on the back of the pin itself. Circa 1940s

This is an adorable vintage Lucite donkey pin which is reverse carved and painted. The Lucite has no chips or cracks; the pin mechanism itself is riveted in place and has a simple C closure with age-appropriate wear to the metal. Measures 3 inches in length and 2 1/2 inches from ear tip to hoof. Circa 1940s.

Wood & Lucite horse head pin, near identical to one in Leigh Leishner's Collecting Art Plastic Jewelry. We say, "near identical," since these were usually hand-carved & there may be slight variances. What isn't obvious by looking at the pics is that the wood is thick - measuring 1/2 inch at its greatest point. The pin is a simple C closure - no safety latch - and is embedded in the wood. It measures 3" in height by 2 5/8" wide.

No other way to put it - goofy, screwball looking Lucite bird pin. If nothing else, it has personality. Light reverse carving on the wings, crown and tail with yellow tinted wings, amber tinted 'mini-wings,' and copper colored moon glow head and body with painted face and green painted accents on wings, body and tail. It measures 3 1/2 inches from wingtip to wingtip and 3 inches in height.

Bas-relief autumn colored flowers on a clear oval of Lucite, this vintage Lucite pin measures 2 inches long by 1 1/2 inches in height. Click on the picture to see a shot of the closure on this pin because I'm not sure how to describe it. It's a C closure, but the "C" is parallel to the rest of the hardware and has an inverted "V" which serves to hold the pin itself in place.

Gorgeous yellow rose set in clear Lucite. This brooch measures 1 1/2 inches in diameter. Please see the close-up photo of the brooch back...we're thinking that the back indicates a real flower was used in the manufacture of this brooch but we're not sure. We'd love to hear from you if you know more about this type of piece.

I like this just because it's goofy and a little unusual and I have a weakness for confetti Lucite. This pin is done in gold tone, in very good condition, and measures 1 7/8 inches in length. The confetti is white and gold and as you can see in the second picture, his back is a dome of clear Lucite. Very charming in a creepy sort of way.
