Charming Lucite owl pin with matching screw back
earrings. This is actually a book piece (see page
103 of Plastic Jewelry by Kelley & Schiffer), lightly
carved on both the front and reverse with a
simple C clasp closure. There is some paint loss
on the right eye of the owl pin; other than that, it's
in very good condition. The earrings are
interesting; though the owl face earrings are a
match to the pin in color, shape and expression,
the earring backs are stamped, "Sterling," while
the pin back is not. It's curious that Sterling silver
would be used on what is essentially novelty
jewelry. The pin measures 3 1/5 inches in length,
1 3/4 inches at its widest and the earrings are 7/8
x 3/4 inches.
