Vintage reverse carved Lucite pin with black cameo.
I've seen many of these pins labeled as a "Bakelite
cameo pin;" however, since black Bakelite in general
does not respond to the 409 test and I know of no
celluloid tests which wouldn't potentially damage the
piece, we're simply calling it a hard plastic cameo.
This one rests on deeply reverse carved Lucite and
measures nearly 2 1/2 inches in diameter with the
pin back embedded into the Lucite. The purplish
reflection on the back picture is the glue which
attaches the cameo to the Lucite base and is not dirt
or goop on the back of the pin itself. Circa 1940s
