book piece because the near identical twin can be found
in Leigh Leishner's Collecting Art Plastic Jewelry. We
say, "near identical" since pins such as this were usually
hand-carved & there may be slight variances. What isn't
obvious by looking at the pics is that the wood portion of
this pin is thick - measuring 1/2 inch thick at its greatest
point. The pin back is a very simple C closure - no
safety latch - and is embedded in the wood. Total
measure on this piece is 3 inches in height by 2 5/8
inches wide.
