Cherry red Bakelite chunks suspend from gold
tone medallions on this pretty set of clip earrings.
The Bakelite chunks measure 3/4 inch in length
and 1/2 inch wide and the gold tone medallions
are 5/8 inch in diameter. The earrings' overall
length is just a shade over 1 1/2 inches. In very
good condition with no visible wear to the gold
tone findings. The earrings are stamped,
"Freirich," on the back and the Bakelite chunks
test positive with Simichrome. Post-1960.

Snappy triangular root beer/mock tortoise
Bakelite dangling clip earrings, in very good
condition. The triangular portion of these
earrings measures 1 3/8" on each side, 3/16" in
thickness, and the center, decorative hole
measures 1/2" in diameter. The little Bakelite
'buttons' which top these earrings measure 7/16"
in diameter and the overall length of the earrings
is just a touch over 2 inches. At first glance these
appear to be a true root beer Bakelite but if the
earrings are held up and scrutinized in direct
light, a very light swirling effect can be seen. In
very good vintage condition with age-appropriate
wear showing to the metal clip backs and with
new silver tone bales. Test positive with
Simichrome.

These beautifully shaped rootbeer/mock tortoise
Bakelite dangling earrings are in very good
condition and test positive with Simichrome. The
pendant portion of the earrings measures just a
shade under 2 1/4" in length and tapers from 1
inch at the widest point to 1/2 inch. The overall
length of the earrings is 2 7/8 inches. The metal
findings are gold tone and show less-than-usual
wear.

These darling earrings resemble fat little
bubblebees, although their actual colors are
Mississippi mud, swirled cream corn yellow, and
black. Both the Mississippi mud and cream corn
colors test positive with Simichrome; the black
does not, but if you know black Bakelite, you also
know this is unsurprising. These dangle drop
earrings measure 2 inches in overall length, with
the little brown 'button' at the top measuring just a
shade under 1/2" in diameter and the laminated
Bakelite drop measuring 1 1/4" in length and a
little over 1/2" at its widest part. The clip back
portion of these earrings may be replacement
hardware, since they are shiny bright and appear
to have little to no wear.

These butterscotch Bakelite hoop earrings are
carved on their fronts, measure 1/4 inch thick and
1 1/2 inches in diameter (outer edge to outer
edge), are in very good vintage condition and test
positive with Simichrome polish.

Chunky mock tortoise shell Bakelite hoop
earrings with gold tone metal accents. Some
wear showing to the metal accents, made more
visible by the wonders of digital photography.
There appears to be a ding or chip along the
inner diameter of one of the earrings (see earring
on the left, picture #1) which does not interfere
with the appearance of the earring when worn but
we need to mention it in the interest of full
disclosure. These earrings measure 1 1/8" in
diameter and the Bakelite hoop measures 1/2"
thick at its widest (at the bottom of the hoop).
These earrings test positive with Simichrome.

Swirled burgundy Bakelite clamper style
earrings, test positive with 409, are surprisingly
comfortable and secure to wear. Vintage
unknown, although I suspect they are newer
earrings based on the shiny appearance of the
hinge. Fun earrings nevertheless; they remind
me of Lifesaver candies. They're about 1/4 inch
thick with a 1 inch diameter measuring from
exterior edge to exterior edge.

These earrings are so cool - swirled chunky
slices of green Bakelite, each measuring about 1
3/8 inches in height from tip to tip and 1/2 inch
wide, with clip backs. In good vintage condition
with the expected wear showing to the metal
hardware. One of the interesting features about
these earrings is that the clip backs are glued
into recesses within the Bakelite itself rather than
simply glued onto the flat back of the Bakelite
slice. Tests positive with 409.

These Bakelite dangling hoop earrings are a
pretty swirled burgundy color and test positive
with Simichrome. In very good condition, they
show little wear to the gold tone metal findings.
The hoops themselves have a diameter of 1 1/4"
(outer edge to outer edge) and are 1/8" thick.
When worn, the hoops hang from side to side
rather than from front to back, allowing the
earrings to "show themselves."

Rare & absolutely fabulous green Bakelite &
chrome earrings. Beautifully swirled green
Bakelite chunks with touches of brown encased
on three sides by chrome, they pass the 409 test
with flying colors. They have only minor wear to
the finish on the earring backs and snug clips
which are riveted in place. Measurements are 1
1/4 inches in length and 5/8 inch at their widest.
An exceptionally well constructed example of
Deco styling.

Only the usual and customary wear showing to
the metal clip backs, which are sturdy and fully

Three colors laminated Bakelite clip earrings
which pass the 409 test. The colors are olive
drab on the bottom (see 2nd picture), caramel in
the middle and light coffee-with-cream on the top.
At some point one of the backs was reglued; not
the neatest job but it's extremely secure. The
clips themselves are nice and snug and show
age-appropriate wear. These measure 3/4 inch
in diameter.

butterscotch buttons on these vintage earrings.
